Family & Youth

Trinity's Family Ministry sponsors about one event a month.  Parents and children gather for movie nights, bowling, snow tubing or making gifts and visiting the homebound.  These events provide wonderful opportunities to connect with other families, to invite friends and enjoy activities that challenge us to grow together in fellowship.

Events are publicized in bulletins, newsletters and on the website.  Call the Church Office for information about upcoming events and to reserve your spot!

Trinity does NOT propose that young people are the “church of the future”….youth are a vital part of the church today!   Therefore, Trinity encourages all the young people of the congregation to participate fully in the life and ministry of the congregation.  Young people assist in worship, write prayers, lead worship in music and also work behind the scenes.   Trinity’s young people in Boys Scouts have developed the outdoor chapel and prayer walk on the church property and the memorial garden at Farmer’s and Thresherman’s property in New Centerville.

Youth have gathered to help stock shelves in the Somerset Food Pantry (found in the Educational Building,) have helped to lead worship at nursing homes and assist in leading Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School.

The Confirmation Class annually joins classes from other Lutheran churches in the area for SNOW CAMP. This is an opportunity to spend a weekend at Camp Sequanota – learning the basics of the Catechism while having fun with youth from other churches.

Some of Trinity’s Senior High students are preparing to attend the National Lutheran Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July of 2012.  They meet for study on Sunday mornings and sponsor various fund raising and service projects throughout the year.

Trinity’s young adults meet for fellowship about once a month.  We’ve gone bowling, share lunch after church and plan to attend events in Pittsburgh together.  There has been talk of starting a book club and doing a Bible Study together.   If you are making transitions in life between your education goals and career realities. If you are not sure what God is calling you to do with your life – this is the place where you can explore and search among friends.

Young Adults are making a difference at Trinity!  Young Adults participate as leaders in worship and music, serve on the congregational Council and in other leadership positions in various ministries.  Join us!
